The following instructions will help Macinstosh users update their DSL settings to include their Member ID and Network Name (nvbell.net) and access SBC Internet service:
Macintosh OSX - PPPoE Update - Modem
Macintosh OSX has a native PPPoE client that is used to authenticate on the SBC Internet DSL Services using DSL modems.
- Go into the Apple Menu and select System Preferences.
- From the System Preferences window select the Network icon from the Internet and Network group.
- From the Location field window select the connection that is used to access the DSL Internet service.
- Select PPPoE from the bar below the Show field in the Network options screen.
- Select and Enter:
- Enter their Fully Qualified Member Name (memberID@nvbell.net) in the Account Name field.
- Enter their password in the Password field.
- Enter their password in the Password (Verify) field.
- Select the Apply Now button.
- Verify the following:
- The checkbox before "Connect using PPPoE" is checked.
- If a convenient connection is required ensure the checkbox before “Save password” is selected.
- Select the lock icon (bottom left corner of the Network Options screen) to secure the modified options.
Macintosh OSX - PPPoE Update - 2 Wire Device
Macintosh OSX has a native PPPoE client that is used to authenticate on the SBC Internet DSL Services using 2 Wire devices. Authentication is not required from the Macintosh and is handled by the 2 Wire device. Make sure that the Macintosh is configured to "Connect via LAN"
