About Personal Web Pages
Personal Web Page Guidelines

Revised July 26, 2000

The whole world is watching! Your Personal Web pages can be as unique as you are. Have fun, and feel free to include whatever you want others to see. The more your Web pages reflect your interests and who you are, the more likely it is that others will enjoy looking at them and sharing them with others.

In addition to the Guidelines, we've put together some good things to know when creating and viewing Personal Web Pages, as well as Personal Web Pages copyright and credit information. Please have a look.

Guidelines

Your Personal Web Pages are subject to the Member Agreement, the Interactive Features Guidelines and these Personal Web Page Guidelines (together, the "Guidelines"). Under the Member Agreement, you have agreed not to use The Service to send, or submit for public posting, any obscene, sexually explicit, or illegal material (including material the transmission of which violates any applicable law), or material which violates Internet standards or customs, or any material that is protected by copyright without the authority of the copyright owner.

Use of the Personal Web Page feature on the Service constitutes your acceptance of the Guidelines. Continued acceptance of the Guidelines is a condition of participation in the Personal Web Page feature and of Membership.

Failure to observe the Guidelines can result in anything from a warning to removal or blocking access to your Personal Web page, to suspension of privileges or termination of your membership. Decisions of the Company staff regarding violations of the Guidelines are final. The Company may refer potential illegal matters to proper authorities and may cooperate in the investigation of any suspected crime or civil wrong.

Specific Personal Web Page Guidelines

The purpose of this product is for personal publishing only. You may not sell space or lease any or all of your Personal Web Pages space to anyone else. You may not receive commissions from hyperlinks, icons, etc. to commercial sites, including embedding advertising on your page hosted by another site. Unless you have Nevada Bell Internet Services’s prior written approval, you may not use your Personal Web Pages for any commercial or business activity except as set forth above.

You may not advertise products or Communications services that compete with the Personal Web Pages product or with any Nevada Bell Internet Services or Prodigy Internet affiliate, advertiser or product. You may not use your Personal Web Page to operate a business whereby you collect monies based on usage of Nevada Bell Internet Services or Prodigy Internet service features, e.g. a chat area, BBS, etc. Further, you may not embed on your page graphics or elements from other sources that display such advertising. (For example, you may use your Personal Web Page to "advertise" your own web-page creation service; however, a web page hosting service would not be permitted.)

Extraordinarily heavy usage of a site may interfere with the overall performance of the Personal Web Pages product. In order to facilitate access by all users, if the distinct elements of your page are accessed by Members and other users more than 25,000 times a day, or in excess of 500MB of traffic in a one month period, the Company may discontinue hosting the page and/or refer you to Ameritech Web Hosting Services The daily page access counter will be reset at midnight each day; the monthly traffic counter will be reset at the beginning of each billing cycle.

Content Suitability Ratings

Please consider registering your site with the Recreational Software Advisory Council (RSAC). This organization provides Web surfers with information about the suitability of Internet content for themselves and their families. If you do not register your site or your site does not fit the categories selected by certain visitors who use the RSAC product on their computers in conjunction with the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, those visitors will not be able to access your site.

Access Control

If you are concerned about the suitability for children of certain content contained in Personal Web Pages, Choose: "Access Control" so that you can block access to those Personal Web Pages you deem inappropriate.

Alerts

Send us an Alert if you spot a Personal Web Page that you believe violates our Guidelines. To submit an alert for a Personal Web Page (PWP) that is in violation of our Guidelines, including the additional guidelines applicable for Personal Web Pages, simply send an email message using our Service Abuse Form. If, upon notification, the Company determines your Personal Web Page contains material that violates these Guidelines, the Member Agreement or any applicable law, the Company reserves the right to remove or block access without notice to such Web pages, and may refer the matter to law enforcement authorities, if appropriate.

The Company reserves the right to remove or block access without notice to Web pages that violate our guidelines.

Disclaimer, Limitation of Liability, and Indemnification

THE PERSONAL WEB PAGES APPLICATION (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ALL PAGE CREATION TOOLS AND TEMPLATES) IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. (See the Member Agreement for more information concerning the Company’s disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability and your agreement to indemnify and hold the Company and others harmless for the use of the Service.)
