Configuring the Phonebook Entry

To change the phone number that your computer dials to connect to Nevada Bell Internet, simply follow these steps.


The default settings to be modified for each of the following tabs:

BASIC tab:
  1. Place a check in "Use Telephony Dialing Properties"
  2. Enter the local access number and area code where specified.
  3. Click the Configure button next to the modem entry.
  4. Set the Initial Speed as appropriate for your modem or close to its actual speed.
  5. Enter a check mark next to "Enable hardware flow control" unless your modem is set differently.
  6. Select other settings as needed for your modem, then click OK. Leave the settings as default when unsure.

SERVER tab:
  1. Select the Dial-Up Server type "PPP, Windows 95, Internet"
  2. TCP/IP should be checked for Network Protocols.
  3. Enable Software Compression
  4. Disable PPP LCP extensions.
  5. Click the TCP/IP Settings button.
  6. Select Server assigned IP address"
  7. Select "Server assigned name server addresses".
  8. Select "Use IP header compression"
  9. Select "Use default gateway on remote computer".
Edit Phonebook Entry - Server

SCRIPT tab:

You do not need a script to log on to Nevada Bell Internet. Leave this screen set to none.

SECURITY tab:

Check the option for "Accept any authentication, including clear text".

X-25 tab:

Choose "none" from the pull-down menu.

Click OK.
In the main Dial-Up Networking window, click the Location button.

Check the "Dial as a long distance call" box.

Click OK, then Close to save and exit.
