Netscape Communicator for Windows 95/98/NT 4.0

Setting up a New Profile
  1. If Netscape Communicator is running you need to close the program. Click on the File option on the top toolbar, and choose the Exit option
  2. From the Windows Start menu, choose Programs, then choose Netscape Communicator, then choose Utilities, and then choose User Profile Manager.
  3. At the Profile Manager screen, click on the "New" button
  4. You will then see the New Profile Setup screen with a description of Creating an New Profile that explains the purpose of the User Profiles. After reading the description, click on the "Next" button
  5. You will then see a continuation of the New Profile Setup screen. For the "Full Name" entry, enter the name you wish to appear on outgoing messages
  6. For the "E-mail Address (if available)" entry, enter the complete address of this mailbox
  7. Click on the "Next" button to continue.
  8. You will then see a continuation of the New Profile Setup screen. For the "Profile name" entry, enter the userID of this mailbox
  9. For the next entry on the screen, we recommend using the default directory that is automatically shown
  10. Click on the "Next" button to continue.
  11. You will then see the Mail Discussion Groups Setup screen. For the "Your name" entry, enter the name you wish to appear on outgoing messages sent from mailbox
  12. For the "E-mail Address" entry, enter the complete address for this mailbox
  13. For the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" entry, enter mail.nvbell.net
  14. Click on "Next" button to continue.
  15. You will then see a continuation of the Mail Discussion Groups Setup screen. For the "Mail server user name" entry, enter the userID for this mailbox
  16. For the "Incoming Mail Server" entry, enter postoffice.nvbell.net
  17. For the "Mail Server type" entry, select the POP3 option
  18. Click on the "Next" button to continue.
  19. You will then see a continuation of the Mail Discussion Groups Setup screen. For the "News (NNTP) server" entry, enter news.la.sbcglobal.net or news.sf.sbcglobal.net
  20. For the "Port" entry, enter 119
  21. Click on the "Finish" button to complete setting up the new mailbox.
