Windows Microsoft Exchange Setup
Setting Up a New Mailbox
- Start the Microsoft Exchange program, click on Tools and then on Options
- You will see the Options screen, and the General tab screen
- In the When starting Windows Messaging box: Select the Prompt for a profile to be used option
- Click on the OK button
- Close and restart Microsoft Exchange
- When Microsoft Exchange restarts you will see the Choose Profile screen
- Click on the New button
- You will then see the Inbox Setup Wizard screen
- Select the Use the following information services option
- Uncheck the Microsoft mail option
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen
- For the Profile Name entry, input the userID of the new mailbox
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with an Internet Mail heading
- Select the Modem option
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with an Internet Mail heading
- Make sure that Nbi is selected
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with an Internet Mail heading
- Select the Specify the name option
- For the Specify the name entry, input: postoffice.nvbell.net
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with an Internet Mail heading
- Select the Automatic option
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with an Internet Mail heading
- For the E-mail address entry, input the complete e-mail address for the new mailbox
- For the Your full name entry, input the name you wish to appear on the outgoing messages sent from the new mailbox
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with an Internet Mail heading
- For the Mailbox name entry, input the userID for the new mailbox
- For the Password entry, input the password for the new mailbox
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with a Personal Address Book heading
- In the entry box, replace the word mailbox in the path and input the userID for the new mailbox (for example, C:Exchange/cyberpunk.pab)
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with a Personal Folder heading
- In the entry box, replace the word mailbox in the path and input the userID for the new mailbox (for example, C:Exchange/cyberpunk.pst)
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen
- Click the Do not add Inbox to the StartUp group the option (regardless of whether you want Microsoft Exchange to launch when you start Windows 95)
- Click on the Next button to continue
- You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen
- Click on the Finish button
- Restart the Microsoft Exchange program, click on Tools and then on Services
- Make sure Internet Mail is highlighted. Click on Properties
- Once within the Properties window, click on Advanced Options
- Type mail.nvbell.net in the outbound mail server field. Click OK
- Select the Connection tab. Click Login As
- Enter your primary account userID and password. Click OK
- Click OK to close the Internet Mail Connection screen
- You will receive an Internet Mail dialog box. Click OK
- Click OK to exit the Services window
- Select File then Exit and Log Off
- Congratulations! Your Microsoft Exchange program has been setup with your new mailbox.
