Windows Microsoft Exchange Setup

Setting Up a New Mailbox

  1. Start the Microsoft Exchange program, click on Tools and then on Options
  2. You will see the Options screen, and the General tab screen
  3. In the When starting Windows Messaging box: Select the Prompt for a profile to be used option
  4. Click on the OK button

  5. Close and restart Microsoft Exchange
  6. When Microsoft Exchange restarts you will see the Choose Profile screen
  7. Click on the New button

  8. You will then see the Inbox Setup Wizard screen
  9. Select the Use the following information services option
  10. Uncheck the Microsoft mail option
  11. Click on the Next button to continue

  12. You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen
  13. For the Profile Name entry, input the userID of the new mailbox
  14. Click on the Next button to continue

  15. You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with an Internet Mail heading
  16. Select the Modem option
  17. Click on the Next button to continue

  18. You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with an Internet Mail heading
  19. Make sure that Nbi is selected
  20. Click on the Next button to continue

  22. Select the Specify the name option
  23. For the Specify the name entry, input: postoffice.nvbell.net
  24. Click on the Next button to continue
  25. You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with an Internet Mail heading
  26. Select the Automatic option
  27. Click on the Next button to continue

  28. You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with an Internet Mail heading
  29. For the E-mail address entry, input the complete e-mail address for the new mailbox
  30. For the Your full name entry, input the name you wish to appear on the outgoing messages sent from the new mailbox
  31. Click on the Next button to continue

  33. For the Mailbox name entry, input the userID for the new mailbox
  34. For the Password entry, input the password for the new mailbox
  35. Click on the Next button to continue

  36. You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with a Personal Address Book heading
  37. In the entry box, replace the word mailbox in the path and input the userID for the new mailbox (for example, C:Exchange/cyberpunk.pab)
  38. Click on the Next button to continue

  39. You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen with a Personal Folder heading
  40. In the entry box, replace the word mailbox in the path and input the userID for the new mailbox (for example, C:Exchange/cyberpunk.pst)
  41. Click on the Next button to continue

  42. You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen
  43. Click the Do not add Inbox to the StartUp group the option (regardless of whether you want Microsoft Exchange to launch when you start Windows 95)
  44. Click on the Next button to continue

  45. You will see the continuation of the Inbox Setup Wizard screen
  46. Click on the Finish button

  47. Restart the Microsoft Exchange program, click on Tools and then on Services

  48. Make sure Internet Mail is highlighted. Click on Properties

  49. Once within the Properties window, click on Advanced Options

                        
  50. Type mail.nvbell.net in the outbound mail server field. Click OK

                             
  51. Select the Connection tab. Click Login As

                    
  52. Enter your primary account userID and password. Click OK

  53. Click OK to close the Internet Mail Connection screen

                            
  54. You will receive an Internet Mail dialog box. Click OK

  55. Click OK to exit the Services window

  56. Select File then Exit and Log Off

  1. Congratulations! Your Microsoft Exchange program has been setup with your new mailbox.
