ISDN Internet Access as Affordable as Dial-up Service

April 22, 1999
In its ongoing effort to provide affordable high-speed Internet connections that meet the full range of bandwidth needs for consumers and businesses, SBC Internet Services today announced that it is slashing the price of its 128 kbps ISDN Internet access to $21.95 per month.

In a related move, the company also returned to unlimited Internet access, removing a 150-hour usage cap. Beginning May 1, SBC Internet Services' ISDN Internet Extra Access Plan will be available for $21.95* per month, down 27 percent from the current $29.95. This price does not include costs for installation of ISDN technology and monthly line charges and ISDN usage charges.

Customers also can choose Annual Value Plan for ISDN Internet access at $219.50* annually. SBC Internet Services is removing the Extra Access Plan dial-up usage cap after monitoring customers surfing habits for nearly a year and determining that the move would not adversely affect the performance of the company's top-rated network. The cap originally was instituted in August 1998.

Fueling the growth of SBC Internet Services' brands Pacific Bell, Southwestern Bell and Nevada Bell Internet Services and SNET Internet, is its consistently top-rated network, as cited by Inverse Network Technologies, a leading provider of measurement services that monitors ISP network performance. Pacific Bell Internet recently received "A+" or "A" ratings in all nine categories including: 24-Hour Call Failure Rate, Modem Connect Speeds, Average Web Throughput.

* Price includes 35 cents per month Global Service Provider charge.
